SUMMARY:Kahn Artist: Madeline And Me
DESCRIPTION:New York Debut! Four shows in Oct.-Nov.-Dec. \nEden Casteel was a frustrated teenage soprano in Ohio whose life was forever changed by a Madeline Kahn beer commercial (it was Michelob). In 30 seconds\, Casteel knew she wanted to be like Kahn: ”Wealthy\, glamorous\, with an unbelieveable singing voice.” (Two out of three ain’t bad!) Kahn\, of course\, was the beloved star of some of Mel Brooks’ most popular movies (Blazing Saddles\, Young Frankenstein). Filled with iconic songs\, compelling stories\, and hilarious anectdotes\, KAHN ARTIST: MADELINE AND ME is an intimate look at the trials and triumphs of both Kahn and Casteel. With John Cook\, Piano. Directed by Faith Prince\, cowritten with Roderick Ferguson\, with musical arrangements by Jim Rice and Bobby Peaco.  \nFOUR SHOWS at Don’t Tell Mama in Oct.-Nov.-Dec. $20 for MAC Members\, $25 General. $20 Minimum must include 2 drinks. Cash only. Food available. Doors 45 minutes prior to show. \nSunday Oct. 15 4pm\, Monday Oct. 16 7pm\, Tue. Nov. 21 7pm\, Sat. Dec. 2 1pm.  \nA “stunning coloratura soprano” with “a great sense of comic timing\,” Eden Casteel is a go-to performer\, pianist\, and vocal coach who writes\, plays\, and directs cabarets and showcases for performers nationwide. A native of Dublin\, Ohio who moved to Rhode Island in 2010\, Eden hosts “The Eden Show\,” a weekly interactive livestream on YouTube featuring musical guests who sing\, play\, and love to talk. Eden’s favorite regional theater roles include The Proprietor in Assassins\, Adele in Die Fledermaus\, Yum-Yum in The Mikado\, Mama Rose in Gypsy\, Victoria Grant in Victor/Victoria\, and Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd. Eden was part of the St. Louis Cabaret Conference in 2021 and was a Eugene O’Neill Theater Cabaret Fellow in 2023. SUMMARY:Bad Dates: A One-Man Show About Many Men
DESCRIPTION:After four sold-out shows at the historic Stonewall Inn this summer\, Adam Sank is returning to Stonewall for two additional performances of his acclaimed one-man show\, “Bad Dates: A One Man Show About Many Men\,” on Oct. 7th and 14th. The show will be moving to Wilton Manors\, FL in November for a limited engagement at the Foundry\, where it will be produced and directed by Ronnie Larsen\, and other cities may follow. \nLavender after Dark says: “Sank’s ‘Bad Dates’ is sexy\, smart\, and funny. But it also has its very provocative moments… Not just hilarious but also more relevant than ever…”\n\nVeteran comedian Adam Sank (“Last Comic Standing\,” “The Today Show\,” Vh-1’s “I Love the 2000s”) came out of retirement with this new show about one gay man’s fruitless 30-year-search for lasting love. From the future politician who kept stealing his Neosporin to the vanilla guy with the Christmas-tree-shaped member\, Adam’s dating stories are ribald and hilarious… until he turns the tables with one that is shocking and tragic. \n“In that past\, all my shows have been a random series of jokes\, and one of the reasons I retired was because that was no longer satisfying\,” Sank says. “In returning to the stage\, I wanted to try something different. ‘Bad Dates’ is about a single idea\, which is the fact that I’ve spent half my life hunting for men\, and what the cost of that is. And while I hope people laugh at most of the show\, I’m also hoping they take away something genuine and heartfelt.” \nAges 21 and over only. Graphic language and sensitive content. Audience discretion is advised. $10 + 2-drink minimum\, MAC members can have door charge waived by emailing adam@adamsank.com at least 48 hours ahead of performance date.

SUMMARY:Wendy Scherl in The Sweetness and The Sorrow - the Songs of Marvin Hamlisch
DESCRIPTION:“This performance showed what Cabaret Artistry is all about” – Cabaret Scenes \nWendy Scherl\, a New York and Arizona-based singer\, returns with her critically acclaimed show\, The Sweetness and the Sorrow: Songs of Marvin Hamlisch to Chelsea Table and Stage. Critics have said\, “This performance showed what cabaret artistry is about” and “Scherl and Hamlisch are a good pairing. Hamlisch was such a versatile artist\, and Scherl was up to the task”. Conceived with her two main collaborators\, director Barry Kleinbort and musical director Christopher Denny\, Ms. Scherl takes a vocal joyride through the catalog of Oscar\, Tony\, Emmy\, Grammy\, and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Marvin Hamlisch\, offering new takes on standards and rarities culled from his numerous Broadway shows\, film scores\, and early pop songs.\nWendy’s far-reaching program includes classics like “The Way We Were” and “What I Did for Love” alongside little-known gems like “Sweet Alibis” and “Two Boys” (which Hamlisch wrote with the late Peter Allen.). As Roy Sander of Bistro Awards wrote\, “With her fluent musical vocabulary and sharp interpretive skill\, Wendy Scherl illuminates and invigorates every song she sings.” This is an evening not to be missed.\nWendy’s critically acclaimed debut CD\, You’ll See (Harbinger Records)\, earned her the 2020 Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC) coveted LaMott/Friedman award for Recording of the Year and was named Top 10 Female Vocalist CD for 2019 by Cadence Magazine. Her most recent shows\, New Scherl in Town (2017) and Town and Country (2019)\, earned her Broadway World and Mac award nominations for Best Vocalist.
