SUMMARY:Jeremy Sussman: From No Business to Show Business
DESCRIPTION:The story of a man who endures the trappings of a desk-bound attorney so he can fantasize about and then pursue his love of performing. But he’ll still consult. \nJeremy Sussman returns to Don’t Tell Mama in From No Business to Show Business. Through lesser-known and quirky novelty songs\, as well as the standards of Rodgers and Hammerstein\, Irving Berlin\, Van Heusen and Burke\, Adler and Ross\, Cahn and Styne\, Harold Rome and others\, Sussman\, an offbeat and captivating performer (usually in a hat)\, tells the story of how he charmed (mollified?) his parents by earning a law degree while privately pursuing his love of performing and piano-playing on the side. For Sussman\, No Business is anything that is not Show Business. \n“Jeremy Sussman loves old and obscure songs and shares that passion with his audiences with charm and enthusiasm.” ~ Bart Greenberg\, Cabaret Scenes \nFrom No Business to Show Business \nVocalist Jeremy Sussman \nMusical director/arranger Gregory Toroian on piano \nSkip Ward on bass \nDavid Silliman on drums \nDirected by Geoff Stoner \nDon’t Tell Mama \n343 W. 46th Street \nNew York\, NY 10036 \ndonttellmamanyc.com \n$20 cover ($15 MAC Members) + $20 two-drink minimum per person \nFood menu available / CASH ONLY \nRESERVATIONS: \n*Sunday\, September 28 @ 4 PM (seating from 3:15 PM) \nhttps://shows.donttellmamanyc.com/9217-jeremy-sussman-9-28-25 \n*Thursday\, October 9 @ 7 PM (seating from 6:15 PM) \nhttps://shows.donttellmamanyc.com/9218-jeremy-sussman-10-9-25 \n*Tuesday\, October 21 @ 7PM (seating from 6:15 PM) \nhttps://shows.donttellmamanyc.com/9219-jeremy-sussman-10-21-25

SUMMARY:SHADOWS
DESCRIPTION:Returning to Don’t Tell Mama from Boston\, this Encore Presentation of Lisa Kantor’s NYC sold out debut cabaret “SHADOWS” gives us a peek behind the curtains and an opportunity to celebrate the iconic singers who stood center stage inside the smoky clubs\, speakeasies and cabarets of the 1940’s.   \nDuring the “Golden Era of Nightclubs\,” live music thrived in intimate settings that felt raw and real. Lisa Kantor pays homage to and weaves in and out of this extraordinary era\, with the songs of Duke Ellington\, Cole Porter\, Johnny Mercer\, The Gershwins\, Peggy Lee and more. \nThrough the singers’ voices that were integrally woven into the fabric of the times\, Lisa invites us inside the club\, where the music tells stories\, people are transported\, and the energy is always electric!   \n  \n•  Winner of the 2025 Mike Renzi Spotlight Award  • \n  \nLisa “swung\, crooned and balladeered her way through the Great American Songbook as if born to it… Her relaxed and comfortable on-stage presence enables us to just sit back and luxuriate in her silky alto and soft vibrato and her occasional well-placed jazz inflections that shimmered.” \nCabaret Scenes 2024 \n  \n

SUMMARY:Linda Kahn: Wait 'Til You See What's Next
DESCRIPTION:Linda Kahn sings her Bistro Award Winning Album\, Wait ‘Til You See What’s Next\, in an evening of romantic and inspiring songs – produced and directed by composer and Broadway luminary\, David Friedman. Accompanied by renowned pianist Mark Hartman\, Linda shares her personal stories of love\, life and dreams through the music of Jason Robert Brown\, Alan Jay Lerner\, John Kander\, Julie Gold\, Harold Arlen\, and Barry Manilow. \nLinda Kahn’s 2024 Bistro Award Winner\, Outstanding Recording\, Wait ‘Til You See What’s Next\, is available to stream or download at Apple Music\, Spotify\, Amazon music.   \n“While the album would be worthwhile simply for the introduction of a remarkably talented singer\, it is so much more than that. On the music side\, it is a gallery of some of New York cabaret’s finest arrangers\, accompanists\, and musicians. Unlike many recordings featuring multiple music directors which can seem ‘cut & paste\,’ this one remains a cohesive and singular statement. It is a work of art.” ~ Gerry Geddes\, Bistro Awards
