SUMMARY:Shadows
DESCRIPTION:“Shadows” gives us a peek behind the curtains and an opportunity to celebrate the singers who stood center stage inside the smoky clubs\, speakeasies and cabarets of the 1940’s. In “The Golden Era of NIghtclubs” live music thrived in intimate settings that felt raw and real. The singers’ voices were integrally woven into the fabric of the times. Inside the club\, the music told stories\, people were transported\, and the energy was always electric! \nOriginally debuted in 2024 at the Provincetown CabaretFest\, “Shadows” (previously named “Do Nothin’ Til you Hear From Me\,”) has since premiered in Boston to rave reviews before coming to Don’t Tell Mama’s for this NYC debut. \nCabaret Scenes Review: \nLisa “swung\, crooned and balladeered her way through the Great American Songbook as if born to it…. Her relaxed and comfortable on-stage presence enables us to just sit back and luxuriate in her silky alto and soft vibrato and her occasional well-placed jazz inflections that shimmered.”\nCabaret Scenes\, December 2024\, John Amodeo

SUMMARY:So Many Colors - Embracing your Essence
DESCRIPTION:What is your essence?  What is essence?  What does that even mean?  Our spirit essence is the energy that lives inside of all of us.  Or Stevie Wonder said\, “Music\, at its essence\, is what gives us memories.” Or this thought from Nietzsche\, “The essence of all beautiful art\, all great art\, is gratitude.”  And individually\, those indisputable qualities that we each posses and which are instantly perceptible to others and authentic to us alone. \nCynthia Shaw explores these ideas in her own life as well as the lives of others in this thoughtful\, harmonic\, joyful\, funny and life affirming cabaret show of song and storytelling. \n“Rigorous and personal storyteller.” The Scotsman \n“She is charming and relatable.” Fringe Review
