SUMMARY:Jo Walker – LIFE IS SO PECULIAR featuring Bill Zeffiro
DESCRIPTION:A bar\, a band\, and the American Songbook. Jo always loved these songs: a throwback to the days when couples danced to big bands and war was raging. This was Jo’s parent’s music – or so she thought. How did these songs affect the Greatest Generation? And how did they get so deep into Jo’s bones\, too? Join Jo and Bill as they take the Songbook on a trip from the 40s to today. Directed by Lennie Watts\, Music Direction and arrangements by Bill Zeffiro\, with John Miller (bass)\, Chip Fabrizi (drums)\, and of course\, Zeff on vocals and keys!

SUMMARY:Kahn Artist: Madeline And Me in NYC
DESCRIPTION:BACK to NYC! Nominated for “Best NY Debut-Female” at 2024 MAC Awards. \n“I found the show to be quite moving and\, definitely\, intelligent. I highly recommend seeing it if/when it next comes your way.” — Mark Dundas Wood\, Bistro Bits. \nWell\, it’s coming your way! Again! \nEden Casteel was a frustrated teenage soprano in Ohio whose life was forever changed by a Madeline Kahn beer commercial (it was Michelob). In 30 seconds\, Casteel knew she wanted to be like Kahn: ”Wealthy\, glamorous\, with an unbelieveable singing voice.” (Two out of three ain’t bad!) Kahn\, of course\, was the beloved star of some of Mel Brooks’ most popular movies (Blazing Saddles\, Young Frankenstein). Filled with iconic songs\, compelling stories\, and hilarious anectdotes\, KAHN ARTIST: MADELINE AND ME is an intimate look at the trials and triumphs of both Kahn and Casteel.  With John M. Cook\, piano. Directed by Faith Prince\, cowritten with Roderick Ferguson\, with musical arrangements by Jim Rice and Bobby Peaco. \nAt Don’t Tell Mama\, 343 W. 46th St.\, NYC. $25 General\, $20 for MAC Members. $20 Food/drink purchase required. Food Menu available. \nA “stunning coloratura soprano” with “a great sense of comic timing\,” Eden Casteel is a go-to performer\, pianist\, and vocal coach who writes\, plays\, and directs cabarets and showcases for performers nationwide. Along with Dan Chaika\, Eden was the winner of Best Novelty/Comedy Song at the 2024 MAC Awards for “What Are You Doing Rosh Hashanah Eve?” A native of Dublin\, Ohio who moved to Rhode Island in 2010\, Eden’s favorite regional theater roles include The Proprietor in Assassins\, Adele in Die Fledermaus\, Yum-Yum in The Mikado\, Mama Rose in Gypsy\, Victoria Grant in Victor/Victoria\, and Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd. Eden’s album with Providence-based jazz/blues/roots quartet Evening Sky debuted in 2023. Click here for links to more info about Eden\, and more shows.

She received her first undergraduate degree in theater and after graduation joined an off Broadway theater company. Then\, after years in a rewarding\, but non-musical career\, she returned to singing. Her recent focus has been returning to her love of jazz and the music of legendary jazz composers and lyricists. This is the music of her heart. She wants her audience to experience the emotional texture of this great American art form. She feels passionately that music feeds the soul and is the creative result of musical collaboration. Corsaro last performed at Chelsea Table + Stage on April 4\, 2024 in Why Not? and on November 9\, 2023\, in I Could Get Used to This!\, both shows directed by David Friedman with musical direction by Gregory Toroian. Prior to that\, she completed a successful run of her show\, You Taught My Heart to Sing\, directed by Sue Matsuki with musical direction by Toroian\, at Pangea. In addition to Chelsea Table + Stage\, Don’t Tell Mama\, Laurie Beechman Theatre\, and Pangea in NYC\, she has performed at Jazz On Main in Mount Kisco\, NY\, and The Magnolia Room in Norwalk\, CT. More info: mariacorsaro.com \n”Besides being a fine jazz artist\, Corsaro is a woman with a very big heart that she loves to share with her audience.” ~ BroadwayWorld \n“Throughout\, her work was marked by a fiercely intelligent approach to lyrics coupled with an impressive clarity… She is a performer who has to perform first-rate material because anything less would be exposed with her honesty.” ~ Cabaret Scenes \nLESLIE VINCENT is a prolific songwriter and jazz vocalist. Equally at home singing the Great American Songbook\, musical theater\, and contemporary rock and pop\, she has quickly become one of the most notable voices to emerge in the vibrant Minneapolis music scene. Born into a military family\, Vincent spent childhood moving along the East Coast and United Kingdom\, where she spent her spare time singing along to Frank Sinatra and the Les Mis soundtrack. The one constant was music. Today\, Vincent has become an accomplished bandleader\, playing 50+ shows a year across the Midwest\, using her theatrical chops to bring drama\, comedy and poise to the stage. In 2020\, she released her debut album These Foolish Things\, which garnered much critical attention from fans and music critics in the Twin Cities\, especially from Jazz88 FM\, where she’s become a regular in-studio guest. She’s recorded with the band Viewers Like You and performed alongside Twin Cities legends including jeremy messersmith\, Joyann Parker\, and Patty Peterson. With the release of her new album About Last Night\, Vincent is poised for the national spotlight\, mixing jazz standards\, vintage blues\, and her own fresh originals. More info: lesliedellavincent.com \n“Leslie Vincent is as much a storyteller as she is a jazz singer.” ~ Downbeat Magazine \n“Vocalist Leslie Vincent…channels a classic jazz sound and mixes it with fresh lyrics that seem at once classic and present” ~ MinnPost

SUMMARY:Jacques Brel Is...
DESCRIPTION:Beautiful storytelling in the music of Jacques Brel. As provocative\, smart\, witty and inspiring as this music was in the 60’s\, it is as relevant today. Growing up in worn-torn Belgium during WWII\, Jacques Brel became a songwriter\, actor\, storyteller\, an anti-war and social just activist. These are songs of the human spirit; song that give us the inspiration to laugh at our frailties and to find the courage to move forward with hope and kindness.   Diane Carey and Ida Zecco bring Brel’s music to life with humor\, passion\, biting wit and arrangements by Jim Rice\, Music Director.

November 2nd at Pangea Supper Club\, 178 Second Avenue\, New York\, 7pm. Come be seduced! \nAUDREY APPLEBY \nFrom Paris to Rio to Spain\, Audrey’s evocative storytelling mix of her original songs and Jazz standards in English and the Romance languages wisks the listener off on seductive flights of fancy where thought-provoking insights meet playful whimsy\, revealing deeper truths and touching our hearts with a wink and a knowing smile\, speaking to the passion\, romance\, and longing in everyone’s soul. Added to that\, her recent experience with the loss of her Husband has brought a grounding of insight\, hope\, and inspiration to go on and face the twists and turns of life’s roller coaster ride. She is the recipient of an ASCAP/MAC award by Michael Kerker for original song MIAMI MOSAIC\, as well as pick of the week in Paris Time Out Magazine during her European Tour. Her album LADIES CHEAP COCKTAILS was masterfully turned into a one woman show at Pangea NYC by her brilliant and inspired Director\, Lina Koutrakos\, and Music Director Daryl Kojak\, with both of whom Audrey has now created her new show of originals and standards\, LIFE…A Seduction Tour. Audrey has performed in New York at Pangea\, at Steinway Hall breaking a 100 year classical music only tradition\, BargeMusic under the Brooklyn Bridge\, as well as at The Ballroom\, Rockwood Music Hall\, The Triad\, and Top Of The Tower at The Beekman Tower Hotel. She has performed in Paris at Caveau De La Huchette\, Cafe Universel\, Autour Du Midi Et Minuit\, Peniches Barges Balle Au Bond and Le Calife\, Chez Papa\, Le Bilboquet\, The American Embassy in Lyon\, France\, and at The Gardenia in LA.
