Against all odds\, their mother Jenny is turning 90 this November and Valerie and Veronica are hell bent on making her special day unforgettable. Join them for a musical journey across the nine decades of Jenny’s life and help them decide which songs make the cut. \nValerie Anastasio\, soprano\, performs in club\, concert and church settings in greater Boston. She earned an undergraduate degree in music from Williams College\, where she studied chamber music and art songs with Terrence Dwyer\, followed by graduate level training in vocal performance at The Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University (with Helen Boatwright)\, the opera program at the Longy School of Music (under director Donna Roll)\, and independent training with D’Anna Fortunato and Robert Honeysucker. Her approach is deeply informed by a 25-year partnership in cabaret performance (and recordings) with pianist and conductor/arranger Tim Harbold\, collaborations with American Classics producers and musicologists Benjamin Sears and Bradford Conner\, and her teacher\, Sue Ellen Kuzma. She is featured in six full-length recordings\, 5 with her longtime collaborators as well as works of new music: Saving Daylight Time: New American Songs (Albany Records\, Troy 343). \nVeronica Anastasio Wiseman: Veronica has a BFA in Acting from Boston University and an MA in Speech Pathology from UMASS Amherst. Veronica serves on the Board of Trustees of The Huntington Theatre in Boston. She is President of the Board of Sharon TV where she has created and hosted hundreds of shows. Veronica has performed with Sleeping Weazel\, Bad Habit\, Bridge Rep\, Central Square Theatre\, Commonwealth Shakespeare\, Company One\, Fresh Ink\, The Footlights Club\, Gloucester Stage\, THT Rep & Sullivan Rep. vawiseman@comcast.net \nSteve Sussman is frequently heard as a soloist\, accompanist\, chamber musician and orchestral member throughout the Boston area. He holds a Master’s in Music Performance from Boston University studying with Anthony D’Bonaventura and a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University where his principal teachers were Enrica Cavallo Guilli and Jorge Bolet. Mr. Sussman is the director of Opera Presto\, an educational performance group. He also teaches at the St. Mark’s School and maintains a private studio in his home.

SUMMARY:Mary Catherine Ward - Falling in Love with Love
DESCRIPTION:While many believe falling in love with love is playing the fool\, Mary Catherine has learned the wonders of falling in love again and again. Along with that wonder\, she learned about the opportunities that life presents that comes with growing older. Still in shock at the occasion of her most recent birthday\, she nonetheless continues to demand more and more from her life until she wrings it dry. She will be joined onstage by her friend Mark Roderick. Falling in Love with Love was directed by John O’Neil. \nMary Catherine Ward’s love of cabaret was inspired by her friend and muse\, the late Jan Peters. Mary Catherine is thrilled to be back in the Moonshine room again with her favorite musicians\, the Tom LaMark Quintet. Previous shows with musical director Tom LaMark include: “Ticket to Ride”\, ”I Could Write a Book”\, “Inside This Heart of Mine”\, and “Written In the Stars”. Her show “The Me Nobody Knows: was also performed in the Moonshine Room and directed by Tony Award winner\, Faith Prince.  Mary Catherine is a member of the Manhattan Association of Cabaret Artists and a monthly donor to “Cabaret Scenes”: The Magazine of the American Songbook Association. \nMary Catherine is a graduate of the prestigious Yale Cabaret Conference and the St. Louis cabaret conference. She has performed with Boston Bel Canto Opera\, Longwood Opera Company and Opera Aperta among other venues. Mary Catherine was also sighted briefly on the “CBS\, The Early Show” disguised as Nancy Kerrigan singing a song from the rock opera “Tonya & Nancy” by Michael Teoli and local songwriter Elizabeth Searle. \nSome highlights from her earlier acting career include her lead role in an Academy Award nominated student film entitled “Grease Monkey” which won the Louis B.Mayer Award and the Nissan Award and has been shown to inspire incoming freshman at NYU Film School Orientation for many years. Mary Catherine also starred in several segments of the “Dr. Ruth Westheimer Show”\, a prescient event foreshadowing her career as a couples and families therapist at a Boston teaching hospital.

Tickets $30.00 and $25.00. \nRod Ferguson has spent the last decade entertaining in the Napoleon Room at Club Cafe\, showcasing his infectious laugh and comedic flair as he combines his absurd stories with popular songs from Broadway\, Disney\, and the Great American Songbook. According to one reviewer for Broadway World\, Rod “should be headlining clubs\, cabarets\, and cruise ships all over the world\,” but so far he has been more selective\, performing in Boston\, Provincetown\, Rhode Island\, and New York. Rod has performed many times over the years at Provincetown Cabaretfest\, and has been known to join the fun as part of Jim Caruso’s Cast Party\, and Susie Mosher’s THE LINEUP in New York. His solo cabaret shows include his new show “CULT CLASSIC\,” his early shows “This Could Be The Start of Something\,” and “Some Others I’ve Seen\,” and his MAC Award winning show “MAN OVERBOARD!!!” which was included in Mark Cortale’s Broadway @ The Art House series in Provincetown. \nIn addition to cabaret\, Rod has performed in stand-up and storytelling comedy shows in Boston and has done some theatre in New York. Favorite credits include Rapunzel’s Prince and The Wolf from Into the Woods\, and Cedric the crazy juror in Jury Duty\, The Musical. \nNick Panagiotou is a Boston-based singer and performer known for his warm tenor voice\, engaging storytelling\, and love of Broadway. A longtime featured soloist with the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus\, he has performed at Symphony Hall and on international tours. Recent credits include his solo cabaret Little Mr. Broadway at DBar\, Barry Glickman in The Prom at The Footlight Club\, and originating the role of Craig the Cardinal in A Peacock Among Pigeons\, a choral-theater adaptation developed in collaboration with Broadway composer John Bucchino. His repertoire blends Broadway favorites\, jazz standards\, and fresh takes on pop classics\, creating evenings that are heartfelt\, entertaining\, and full of connection. \nJosh Redman is a passionate singer and storyteller. He appears monthly as a headlining cabaret artist and open mic host at Club Cafe’s Napoleon Room. Josh has been invited to perform throughout Massachusetts\, from Grafton at Apple Tree Arts to Provincetown as a Spotlight Performer at Provincetown CabaretFest. He has participated in master classes with Lina Koutrakos\, Faith Prince\, and Sally Mayes. As a trained clarinetist\, Josh appears regularly with the Kendall Square Orchestra and frequently plays the clarinet during his cabaret performances. He holds a degree in Clarinet Performance from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam\, where he was a recipient of the Alumni Rising Star Award. \nWhen not performing\, Josh serves as a Director of Marketing at SharkNinja\, a leading manufacturer of cleaning and cooking appliances.

Rod has performed many times over the years at Provincetown Cabaretfest\, and has been known to join the fun as part of Jim Caruso’s Cast Party\, and Susie Mosher’s THE LINEUP in New York. His solo cabaret shows include his new show “CULT CLASSIC\,” his early shows “This Could Be The Start of Something\,” and “Some Others I’ve Seen\,” and his MAC Award winning show “MAN OVERBOARD!!!” which was included in Mark Cortale’s Broadway @ The Art House series in Provincetown. \nIn addition to cabaret\, Rod has performed in stand-up and storytelling comedy shows in Boston and has done some theatre in New York. Favorite credits include Rapunzel’s Prince and The Wolf from Into the Woods\, and Cedric the crazy juror in Jury Duty\, The Musical. \nNick Panagiotou is a Boston-based singer and performer known for his warm tenor voice\, engaging storytelling\, and love of Broadway. A longtime featured soloist with the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus\, he has performed at Symphony Hall and on international tours. Recent credits include his solo cabaret Little Mr. Broadway at DBar\, Barry Glickman in The Prom at The Footlight Club\, and originating the role of Craig the Cardinal in A Peacock Among Pigeons\, a choral-theater adaptation developed in collaboration with Broadway composer John Bucchino. His repertoire blends Broadway favorites\, jazz standards\, and fresh takes on pop classics\, creating evenings that are heartfelt\, entertaining\, and full of connection. \nJosh Redman is a passionate singer and storyteller. He appears monthly as a headlining cabaret artist and open mic host at Club Cafe’s Napoleon Room. Josh has been invited to perform throughout Massachusetts\, from Grafton at Apple Tree Arts to Provincetown as a Spotlight Performer at Provincetown CabaretFest. He has participated in master classes with Lina Koutrakos\, Faith Prince\, and Sally Mayes. As a trained clarinetist\, Josh appears regularly with the Kendall Square Orchestra and frequently plays the clarinet during his cabaret performances. He holds a degree in Clarinet Performance from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam\, where he was a recipient of the Alumni Rising Star Award. \nWhen not performing\, Josh serves as a Director of Marketing at SharkNinja\, a leading manufacturer of cleaning and cooking appliances.

DESCRIPTION:Gabriela and Phil Kassel enjoy singing together at Club Café when she is visiting from Montreal\, but they last did a whole show nearly 20 years ago when she was in high school. They decided that’s too long\, geography be damned! Between songs\, they’ll tell stories about how their musical paths crossed at different phases of life and give a glimpse of their frank familial rapport\, singing old and new favorite tunes\, including those of Amy Winehouse; Joy of Cooking; Laura Nyro\, Bonnie Raitt\, Sheryl Crow\, Leonard Cohen\, and others. Their friend and long-time collaborator\, Michael Larson\, is the show’s Musical Director and he’ll join them on piano. \nPhil and Gabriela have busy day jobs as a local public interest lawyer and somatic therapist and facilitator. By all accounts\, their voices work well together. Here are excerpts from a review of a show they did in 2007: “Bringing down the house was left to the dynamic father-daughter act of Gabriela and Phil Kassel. The duo’s sweet harmonies play off the songs\, with Dad” nailing a “dark sardonic vocal pitch” and lightening to “a soaring tenor to accompany his daughter\,” who has “a dreamy\, fluid voice which allows the music to spill out like water bouncing and skipping across stones – and the lyrics to fall effortlessly across the notes.
