DESCRIPTION:Come enjoy Pangea Cabaret Room’s Wednesday Night Jazz Series – \nFeaturing vocalist/flutist WENDY LUCK! June 11 @7:00pm  \nTo make a reservation call: 212-995-0900 or send an email to info@pangeanyc.com \nAward-winning vocalist and flutist Wendy Luck\, is “adorned with talent\,” says Karl Stober\, of Ejazznews. “A consummate musician\, her artistic skill and grace shine through whether she is singing a ballad or a bossa nova… or playing flute on a jazz tune\, a choro\, or a samba…” (Randy Morse\, “The Best of Brazil\,” KZUM.) \nWendy Luck\, internationally recognized flutist\, vocalist\, composer\, performer\, and recording artist\, has concertized all over the world. Her diverse array of performances range from orchestral/chamber music at Lincoln Center\, Carnegie Hall and Merkin Hall\, to lead vocalist/flutist with NYC’s Rainbow Room big band\, to original ensemble work at the Knitting Factory\, Roulette\, and The Kitchen and countless other clubs\, to recording her own compositions in Egypt inside the Great Pyramid and in the temples along the Nile\, to writing and performing her one-woman show entitled Aquatic Information which utilizes flutes\, voice\, characters\, and multimedia. With a number of esteemed compositional awards\, an improvisational ease\, and an ever-brewing love and proclivity for jazz and the avant garde\, she has performed with cutting edge greats including Ornette Coleman\, Don Cherry\, Eddie Blackwell\, Karl Berger\, Dave Holland\, Jack DeJohnette\, and Sam Rivers. Her 7 CDs include a Brazilian jazz album recorded in Rio\, a flute album recorded inside the Great Pyramid\, and an alchemy album of smooth jazz and classical music. Wendy has won numerous awards for her compositions\, and can be found in Scott Yanow’s book\, The Jazz Singers: The Ultimate Guide. In 2012\, Ms. Luck became Dr. Luck\, graduating from NYU Steinhardt with a focus in performance and composition.  www.WendyLuck.com (http://www.wendyluck.com/) \n“A heartland girl that has conquered New York as well as the world with her flute and other talents\, takes it down to Rio for a breezy date that we’re simply a sucker for. With nary a Brazilian chestnut in ear shot even when covering Jobim or Djavan\, she holds her own down south with a crew of killer Brazilian cats behind her. Solid stuff that crosses the line from smooth jazz into that place where there’s something extra going on\, even if you don’t grasp it right away. A tasty find from a player that is equally at home with uptown cocktail hours as she is with downtown after hours that knows all the right moves.” ~ Chris Spector\, www.midwestrecord.com \n“Sultry\, sun-splashed magic!” ~ Jonathan Widran\, Rovi\, I-Tunes \n
